Topic: An Example of a Niche Blog Site...From a Pro

So here I am again sharing other people's stuff.  I have been following Pot Pie Girl (Jennifer) from Wealthy Affiliate and she sent out an email recently that took me to her blog.

What I found was this blog is a perfect example of a highly targeted niche blog promoting ONE clickbank product.

http://niche-keywords.org

So the domain is optimized for the keywords:

niche keywords and how to find niche keywords

She is promoting the Micro Niche Finder which is a great product (highly recommended by the way).

You can see how her entire site is optimized to driving traffic to that product and this is it.  It isn't loaded with other "stuff" and every single post is designed to send buyers to the Micro Niche Finder product on Clickbank.

Every post has the anchor text for micro niche finder worked in to the content.

She is also making some money from Google adsense.  That's it.  Simple.

5 pages - Home | About | Contact | Privacy Policy | Disclosure Policy

She put 10 articles in there back in January and nothing since.  The site ranks about number 7 on page one of Google for the search phrase, niche keywords.

That is it.  This is what Chris Loseno is talking about with tiny Micro Niche sites.

Take a look.  It is nothing fancy.  Anyone on here on the APS forum can design sites like this over and over again.

Go for micro niches.  Promote products from Clickbank, CJ, Amazon, Ebay, ShareaSale, etc.

Another guy, Ryan Moran talks about this as well.

You can also take these sites, put a little effort in to them and sell them for a few hundred bucks to a few thousand depending on how good they are and how much content you put in to them.

What do you thnk?

Re: An Example of a Niche Blog Site...From a Pro

Great post, Brett!  Pot Pie Girl has a lot of excellent information about profiting from micro niche sites.  I recommend everyone read her story.  When she started affiliate marketing she was on a very tight budget and free methods were her only option.  Also, she had absolutely no experience.  Her success story is very inspiring.  She's now extremely successful, and for those who are considering joining Wealthy Affiliate, she's one of the top contributors over there and she praises Wealthy Affiliate as contributing a lot towards her success.

I forget to ask Tissa if he met her when he flew out to Las Vegas to meet Kyle & Carson.  I think she was out there for that WA event.  Great story!

Folks, this is a very important suggestion from Brett.  Except for Clickbank, the other affiliate programs he mentioned are mostly physical products.  I would guess if we took a poll of APS members and asked how many were promoting physical products the percentage would be very low.  Don't overlook physical products.  You can build up a very nice income promoting physical products with micro niche sites and you'll get a handsome Christmas bonus every year.

Here are some excellent ways to monetize sites with datafeeds for physical products:

Ebay (one of my person favorites, but it takes a little work to get accepted)
Amazon
Overstock (via Commission Junction)
Commission Junction
ShareASale
Pop Shops
Golden Can

Thanks for the feedback on this post.

I want to continue to provide information you find helpful.  Pot Pie Girl offers a lot of great information, and like Tissa, she is a proven money maker and a "real" person.

Hi Brett,

I would personally like to thank you.  You made a post a couple of weeks ago about the dam way by Jennifer.  I read it and was totally amazed and able to relate to her.  I like her teaching style.  After reading the dam way, I ordered the one week marketing plan.  It is really awesome.  I have learn so much for the price of it.  In one week, I had several of my squidoo lenses to rank on the first page of Google using all free methods.  I use some of her suggestions and others that I had learnt in the past.

From reading her stuff, I am now concentrating on building mini niche sites.  While I am still involve with Acme, I am trying to see how the mini niche can work as well.  In fact, I am using Jennifer's techniques for products within Acme.  Kinda mingling the two together.  But, I am also now looking at other products outside of Acme.  I want to give this a go.

I highly recommend that people check her site out.  She offers so much.

Brett, again, thank you.

You are welcome.

I wish you all the best.

Hi Brett,

This seems to be the way to go right now. Here is a great thread along the same topic I found on Warrior forum which proposes the same idea - by Daniel Brock - it's a live case study which is ongoing, so we will have to stay tuned in to this thread to see how things transpire, of course.

Yeah, this method really does work (at least for now) and it's so easy a chimpanzee can do it.  Sometimes you don't even have to do anything and you can rank a site on page one.  And even if it's not on page one you'll still see a trickle of traffic.

Somesh, that site I showed you that I still haven't developed just generated a sale for $2,820 on eBay yesterday which resulted in a nice commission.  smile

Great post Brett!

I just had to check out her site to see for myself.  It's very professionally laid out as Brandon mentioned.  She just used the Church theme which is available free as a WordPress Theme.  I've used it myself, but certainly not as well as she did with her site.  But, that's just practice.

I think a key thing to point out here is that her major keyword string is the name of her product: micro niche finder.  Here are the statistics from SEO Quake:

Keyword Density:

Niche _____5.80

Niche finder ___ 3.76
Micro niche ____2.95

Micro niche finder ____ 4.43

It's interesting that she didn't use any of the two or three keyword strings in her url (http://niche-keywords.org/), plus she used a hyphenated url to boot.

Her Meta Title is:     Niche Keywords – How To Find Niche Keywords : Niche Keywords.  So, she didn't include one of her keyword strings in her title.

Her Meta Description is: Finding niche keywords can be tricky and time-consuming....unless you know the right way and use the right keyword research tools. Learn how I do it.  This does not appear to be as carefully constructed as it could have  been. "Niche keyword" only had a density of 1.61.

If I were her, I'd probably rewrite my title and description with the keyword phrase "micro niche finder" in there someplace. tongue

The only reason I'm writing on this topic is that:

* I believe that anyone at the Forum can learn to do this!
* Total perfection is not necessary to make money!
* and, the PotPie Girl probably wrote a few really good articles to drive traffic and establish backlinks to her site!

...and yes, this the way of the future to making quicker money online or offline.  Everyone needs to pay big attention to these threads!  Plus, these shorter content websites (10 posts) are a lot easier to manipulate and SEO than some of the huge contect sites that I've created.

All the Best,

Rick

Hi Giap,

I pretty much only use the datafeeds from eBay and Amazon because they both have very high brand recognition and consumer trust.  A recent study revealed Amazon as the most trusted brand in the United States.  Also, most online shoppers already have eBay and Amazon accounts so there isn't the registration hurdle when a user decides to make a purchase.

eBay is my favorite because you can find everything under the sun there.  I especially like to build sites around collectible items because there isn't much competition from other affiliate marketers and collectors are eager buyers.

To pull in eBay listings I use the phpBay WordPress plugin.  The company that offers this plugin also has an Amazon plugin.  Another good Amazon plugin is ReviewAzon

Here's a sample screenshot of how my blog posts look with the phpBay plugin.  I used the keyword "Apple iPad" as an example.  Placing eBay auction listings under blog posts results in a very high click thru rate.  Also, I'm finding that I'm getting even better click thru rates with Thesis installed because the out-of-the-box design is so minimalistic that visitors aren't distracted.  Plus I love how it takes seconds to set the column widths.  I keep everything very narrow with a simple two column layout so the visitors eyes go straight down the page to the eBay listings.

Another plus with eBay and Amazon is since customer trust is so high you can successfully sell high ticket items.  To make money you want to find higher priced items that sell very well.  I like to check eBay Pulse for ideas and the Amazon bestseller lists.  With eBay there is a service called TeraPeak that allows you to analyze the past 90 days of eBay data.  It's a great way to come up with lists of ideas to build micro niche sites around.

The only drawback with eBay is they are pretty selective now so you have to make sure you have a decent established site to submit during the application process.  Amazon still accepts just about anyone from what I know.  On the phpBay site they have a good article about how to get accepted by eBay.

-Chris

P.S.  I've never tried promoting Overstock, but I have looked at this plugin.  You can join Overstock through Commission Junction.  I know a lot of you guys are overseas so you don't watch American television (that's a good thing smile).  Overstock runs a lot of television ads (or at least they used to).  I think it's important to keep in mind which companies are running massive national television campaigns because there is so much scaremongering about credit card theft in the U.S. that Americans are far more comfortable buying online from trusted companies.  Amazon, eBay and Overstock fit that category.

Hi Chris,
I don't know if you heard of this new product launch called Profit Instruments by a guy from Calcutta in India, called Ritoban C. - I believe he used the same technique to get himself from $350 at his day job to $20k per month. It took him just 3 hours to build each of his sites, and he has been using Joonla mostly - from what I understand. Proves it works.

Re: An Example of a Niche Blog Site...From a Pro

Thanks Chris for your valuable insights and very detailed info for me to get a decent start on Micro Niche Sites targeting physical products from eBay, Amazon and OverStock.

I plan to start with Micro Niche sites that focus on only Adsense income from info sites related to products from eBay, Amazon and OverStock.

What do you think? In a week after I started to learn and put on Adsense for my existing sites, there are some clicks and I can see some income instantly. I believe the potential is there.

John from the Warrior Forum said that he is making $300 a day from Adsense only for 30 Micro Niche Sites focusing on physical products. His sites are only using free search traffic with these simple ways:

1. Micro Niche Keyword for the Domain name.
2. Write 1 to 5 pages for the content
3. Write up to 5 articles to article directories to get backlinks.

I am reading his thread there with 1600 posts:

Hey Chris,

Yeah I agree, 2 months ago i was thinking that Thesis was just too simple,  but i soon come to realize that people like this, its minimalistic approach is just great not much distractions. I like my blog so so so much more now big_smile

Anyways just wondering if we build sites say to promote Amazon products, how do we first create the site initially? What topics would it revolve around? do we make it a review like site? Any feedbacks on this

thanks smile

Yeah, Internet users seems to like simple.  And ugly doesn't hurt either!  smile  It took me a long time to learn this.  Thesis is perfect for me.  I can get a site setup very fast and I know the simple design layout will convert.  Also, not being an HTML/CSS/PHP expert I know that my sites are properly coded.

Here's an example of how my sites look with Thesis.  I set my column widths, add a header, change the background, add Privacy, T&C, Contact and Sitemap pages, get some kind of links to related sites (I like to add news feeds), and then add content (the hard part!) and build backlinks.  This example doesn't show it, but I usually add categories as well.  That's it!  These sites won't make you a millionaire, but they are a great way to build up some income.  And once they are up and running they require very little maintenance.  If a site makes $3-$10 a day then you're making $100-$300 a month off it and you can build 10, 20, 30....  The biggest mistake I have made in my two years of affiliate marketing is not building enough of these sites.  They worked for me immediately, but I was lazy and thought the work was mundane so I went over to PPC.  Then once I finally figured out AdWords I lost my account!  But you know what, the first sites I started are still paying me month after month.  So not only are these sites a great way to make money on the cheap (just buy a domain name), but they are also an excellent way to diversify your earnings.

Re: An Example of a Niche Blog Site...From a Pro

Great post Brett!

This really is easy to do folks. I'm so excited, the micro niche site I'm building for my Dad
is on page 2 of the big G for an exact search, and p 18 for a broad search. These results after only a couple of days, with over a million pages of competition for the keywords that make up my domain, richmondhillhouses.net What blows me away, is that I haven't even built the site yet. I accomplished this by simply using Thesis, pretty much out of the box, with No meta keywords, No backlinks, and almost No content, and of course choosing the right domain (the little content that's there I placed last night after the site ranked)

I'm sure that once I add some original relevant content, and get some backlinks from a few relevant sites it'll rank much higher. With over 2400 exact local searches per month in Canada, hopefully this will keep my Dad busy enough that he won't have time to keep telling me to get a hair cut and find a real job. lol

I can't wait to get my next site going. A micro niche in video games that gets 14000 exact searches per month, and will affiliate with Amazon and Adsense.
Amazon gives you lots of options as to whether you you want to just link to a specific product, or page, add a widget, or incorporate a store in the body of your site. Just check out 'Join Associates' link at the bottom of their site.

This stuff is addicting too! I was up till the wee hours last night doing research that ties in with our upcoming PPC platform, and found 4 micro niche domains with awesome traffic, that I've now got registered. So much to do! Once again, instead of spending $40 at the pub, I'll probably be spending more hours tonight working towards becoming a successful internet marketer.

All the best,
Arun  cool

Maybe it's because you think this business is "stupid" which is causing your problem. Have you checked out "Step 4" above to learn how to Market, Advertise, and Promote?

Hi,

2 months?? You are still an infant.. You need to learn a lot... It's a slow process. It's not a "Get Rich Quick Business". Have patience. Good Luck.
