Topic: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Currently I am running an ad with PlentyofFish's paid CPM campaign. What I like about this is that you fund the monies up front for the parameters that you choose; cost per day, length of the campaign.

I am running this particular ad at .15 per thousand impressions @ $5.00 per day for 5 days.

As I continue to do this I will keep this thread updated with statistics, modifications and targeting information for the ads that I run.

Please do not hesitate to post your own findings here as well. This thread will be a good reference for those new to paid advertising.

Happy Marketing!

Wow!  Good thing the bidding starts low because POF has some serious traffic!  I didn't even blink before I got 2,000 impressions.

Amy,

How many clicks out of the 21K impressions?

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Yeah I was hoping you wouldn't ask that question wink

4 = ctr .018%

Like I said though I want to modify my targeting for tomorrow and then compare to today's results.
This is all new to me as far as CPM goes.

Sales?  I'm trying to buy a click!

I'll post my creative and stats later tonight.

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

The stats are pretty extensive I think. There is a breakdown for all of your targeting plus there is also a breakdown of the impressions per hour and the clicks within those time frames.

So at 15:00 there was 1886 impressions of which I received 2 clicks which now gives a ctr of .106% for that time frame. This can be useful information when placing ads here because you have the ability to spread the impressions out over the entire day or you can go in at certain times and blast them all at once during a targeted time.

I was targeting 4 countries, I changed it to just 1 now with no other targeting criteria. I will let this run now until tomorrow night. Unless there is any fantastic changes I will post again tomorrow evening.

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Alright, here's my opinion for what it's worth.  After about 20,000 impressions I have 20 clicks.

The pros:  Huge potential here.  There is a lot of traffic, they offer laser targeting and CPMs start at only 15 cents.  Also, you can direct link so you can start testing offers right away.

The cons:  Low CTRs.  You really need to come up with some attention-grabbing creatives.

In my opinion, it would be next to impossible, and a waste of time/money, to try advertising the people search engine here.  I just don't see how one could get a high enough CTR to get enough MyLife leads to cover costs.  However, I definitely think advertising background checks here has potential.

Also, I think there are a lot of products that could work here.  It's only $25 to get started and, as I mentioned, direct linking is allowed so I would recommend everyone giving it a try.

Chris I agree, and after watching today's webinar this evening I was inspired by Tissa's words to write a personal story of a scary experience I lived for seven years, stalked by a nut job who was a friend, and why it's a good thing to do background checks. Now the story is on my people search blog and submitted to ezinearticles tonight. Now I need to work up a splash page, I'm thinking of using one of the free dating templates that WA gives us, slapping the story on that and getting some ads going. Tissa always does manage to inspire us in some way, shape or form with his words. We're so lucky to have him and to have each other to network here and get ideas from.

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Here's a quick update:  I paused my campaign last night at 21,000 impressions.  I'm showing 20 clicks, but when I checked my Clickbank tracking this morning I received 32 HOPs.  No sales, but this definitely has potential.

Thanks for the update chris....

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

If anyone wants to find more ideas for offers that might work on Plenty of Fish head over to Offer Vault.  They have over 20,000 offers listed from various CPA and affiliate networks.

Side note:  Some of these CPA networks are difficult to join.  We should actually get an APS network going to get more of us through the door.  Somesh recently informed me that he's been accepted by Elite Clicks Media.  They have some offers that I think could work.  If anyone wants to get approved by them talk to The Sleepless One.  smile

Hi Octars and thanks very much. I've only started the blog a few months ago and my primary focus has been just to get it off the ground and get some content on it. I'm using the UAW plugin and getting some content there, but I'm really focusing on doing my own articles that I can build traffic from SEO methods. The article I did last night on my 7 year nightmare was posted on my blog and almost immediately was on Google's page 1 in 2nd or 3rd place using my long tailed keyword phrases.

As for conversions I've done one campaign on Yahoo using a few of the blog pages and did get my first sale from my SE in the campaign. I paused the campaign thought until I can do some more tweaking to get my ads and pages more the way that I want them.

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Okay now 3 days later...

Biz Opp - 3 days running

Summary

Total Impressions: 121,549
Total Clicks: 17
Average CTR: 0.014%

People Search - 2 days running

Summary

Total Impressions: 40,485
Total Clicks: 24
Average CTR: 0.059%

I never changed the ad for the biz opp, I will do that tonight to see how I can get this to convert at a higher CTR. Same for the search engine.

Re: Plenty Of Fish Paid Advertising

Here's my update:

I've spent $24.76 and earned $39.93.  My daily CTRs have ranged from .05 - .10.  I didn't earn anything from advertising a background check product, but I made two sales for a fitness related product.  My targeting wasn't very good for the background check product, but I think this is a product that could work.

Here are my thoughts thus far:

POF has huge potential right now!  Tissa gave us a great tip here.  The site has a lot of traffic and you can buy 15 cent CPMs all day long.

CTRs are going to be low so get very creative with your ads.

Don't waste your money advertising your people search engine.  Of course with the current MyLife issue this goes without saying, but even with the replacement a buck or two per lead won't cover your advertising costs unless you can get some crazy CTRs and conversions.  If you can pull this off I'd love to see your ad.

I wouldn't advertise the business opportunity either.  Remember that people on this site are looking for a date not a make money online opportunity.

Even though the demographic targeting is excellent, remember that it's not keyword targeting so find offers with wide appeal to your target audience.

I mentioned this in a post above, OfferVault is a great site to find various offers that could work here.

Hi Chris,
You're right. I did lose some sleep over it tongue. I had to go through a phone interview at 1 a.m. wink where the affiliate manager quizzed me about it and I had to answer quite a few questions about my strategy, etc. Thankfully, I did get accepted. The nice thing about ECM is that the affiliate manager takes a personal interest in helping you set up your campaigns and even point you to resources. The other thing about ECM is that they assign you your own affiliate manager who helps you build your campaigns till you get to $1000 per month, then $1000 per week, then $1000 per day and so on. My affiliate manager is accessible all the time (during office hours) over Skype and he has been instrumental in helping me learn a lot of new things this last little while. He has been even available on weekends - which is very kind of him, although I try not to bother him too much.

Like Chris said, it's not easy to get accepted by these CPA networks, and we have to be willing to get on the phone and talk to them. That usually always works.

I'm working on a few more networks now.

Somesh.
