Topic: Facebook Ads

Have there been a lot of people who have tried Facebook ads?  Right now, it's been just over a week since I've started and I have over 400,000 impressions, but only 53 clicks.  Even out of those 53 clicks, I haven't gotten a single person.  I've heard rumors that Facebook may be making up some numbers.  What do you think?

Re: Facebook Ads

I personally have tried facebook ads and my conversion rate was AWFUL. It was about 6 months ago, but there was a day where I got 997 clicks and not ONE conversion. It sucked terribly.....

I personally wouldnt recommend doing it on Facebook anymore, if you are going to spend money advertising, I would use it with Google!

Pardon my bluntness, but this advice is nonsense!  hmm

In order to solve a problem, you must first define it.  Without knowing that the problem is facebook, the advice to switch to another, costlier and more challenging ad venue is not sound advice.  Advertising is tricky - even for advertising professionals - and chances are high that it's the advertisement/advertiser and not the ad venue that is at fault.  This means that Google results would be no different from Facebook unless there is a steep learning curve before Google ads are undertaken.

Additionally, Google is much more restrictive of what they will and will not tolerate from advertisers and if they deem that your ad is irrelevant or poor-quality or any other negative term they don't like - then they can close your account for good.  Further, unless you've prepared an excellent keyword rich & relevant landing page for the keywords you've selected, your Google ads won't even run.

It could be very well that Facebook does not have the best audience for the ad that was placed, but we don't know that without proper testing.

I've made a general advertising topic called Learn to Earn here - it's under the paid advertising subforum but most of the advice is valid for free advertising as well.  Have a look at it.  It may help you figure out what's wrong, which in turn can help you figure out what's right.

EDIT:  I too have run some 'useless' facebook ads (and myspace ads too), but I have also run ads with results like this one.  BTW my final net result for MyLife commissions that day was just under $109 after deducting my $5 in advertising costs.

Re: Facebook Ads

I have looked at some information web sites. This thing with Google doing a lot of slap downs are making people reassess their ad budget and rejecting Google Adwords. I also read on another blog that none other than Perry Marshall recommending his students look into Facebook ads due to the situation with Adwords.
