Topic: On Page SEO : HTML Meta Tags

There are many members interested in SEO traffic in this forum, as it is a free method to get organic search engine traffic. Many seems like busy making a blog or website trying to be on TOP 10 of Google SERP. This traffic can help a lot in promoting our APS business. Now I would like to share some experience and what I have learned in pursuing SEO.

There are 2 important factors that SE uses to decide your website/webpage page rank.
1.    Your webpage is Search Engine Optimized.
2.    Your webpage must have enough backlinks, preferable quality one way backlink.

I will discuss the first one first, it accounts about 40% of the search engine ranking score.
To optimize your webpage, you will have to do keyword research and find the right keyword, and write an unique content for your website with keywords in it. After that, you will have check on your website’s tags in order to further optimize it.
Meta Tags are information written on the “head” area of your web pages in HTML form. It is not visible when you view the webpage using browser (except Title Tag). Rather it is visible by browser and crawler-based search engine.  Below is an example of meta tag:

<HEAD>
<TITLE> 2010 BEST ACTION MOVIE</TITLE>
<META NAME=”DESCRIPTION” CONTENT= “All latest action movie information in USA. This website lists all latest action movie from all over the world that is released in 2010”>
<META NAME=”KEYWORDS” CONTENT= “action movie, new movie, summer action movie”>
</HEAD>

Meta Tags are information in between <Head> and </Head>.

TITLE Tag

The text between the <TITLE> and </TITLE> will appear on your top browser bar as well as in your bookmarks title. Search Engine will use the text you input in the title tags as one of the MOST important factors in deciding your page rank. So you must you’re your keywords insert in it. Most major crawlers will use the text in the title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in the SERP.

For example:
Example of a Search Result Page:
Top 200 of 200,000,000 (showing 1-10)

2010 Best Action Movie
All latest action movie information in USA.  This website lists all latest action movies  from all over the world…………
www.yourdomain.com/

From example above, “2010 Best Action Movie” is used as the hyperlinked title of this page’s listed in a Search Engine.
In order for crawler-based search engine notice about your keyword and improve your ranking, you must incorporate your keywords that you imagine surfer will key in the search bar, into your title tag in a short, descriptive fashion.

From example above:
If your keyword is “Action Movie”, you can write your title tag as:
<TITLE> 2010 BEST ACTION MOVIE</TITLE>

Meta Description Tag
In the example above, the meta description tag is <META NAME=”DESCRIPTION” CONTENT=. The text after the CONTENT= “ xxxxxx” will be shown in the SERP LISTING on crawlers based se that support this feature.
For example: In the example above the description of your page will be displayed as:
All latest action movie information in USA. This website lists all latest action movie from all over the world that is released in 2010.

Try to make this description as attractive as possible to increase the chance the user to click on it and go to your website. However, please note that not all search engine will display exactly what you have written there.

Meta Keyword Tag
Meta Keyword is the keyword that you input after the (<META NAME=”KEYWORDS” CONTENT=).
However, Meta Keyword Tag is no more supported by major search engine now due to the fact it was abused by some webmasters to spam the keyword and try to cheat the Search Engine. This tag will NOT affect your page rank. I include this in this discussion because it is still can be found in most webpage’s html.

In conclusion, Tips for On Page SEO
1.    Try to include the keywords in your DOMAIN NAME.
2.    MUST include the keywords in your TITLE tag.
3.    Your keyword must be located as top as possible in your webpage, for example include it in the first paragraph of your content.
4.    Include 2 to 3 keywords in other paragraph, but DO NOT overly place as it will in fact harm your page ranking.

On page SEO is the first step in SEO effort, the next very important part is on QUALITY backlink building, which I will share in the later date.

Hope this post can help some of our member that would like to try SEO article marketing.

Re: On Page SEO : HTML Meta Tags

Wanking... Excellent post on HTML Meta Tags!

Rio,

I just took a look at your site.  That's your corporate landing page!  I see that you completed your Meta Tags.  It doesn't really matter on that page.  Google's not going to send any traffic to it anyway.  They don't like like corporate sales pages.  Don't ever try to run an adwords campaign on that.  You'll get banned by Google.  ...which isn't always a bad thing.

I did find your blog.  That's the site you want to work on. That site has your site Meta Tags.  I didn't look at your pages.  They need to include them as well.  But, you need content.  Lots of content.

All the Best,

Rick

I agree with Rick. Work on your blog related to the site.

You need more index pages. First pages that related to your main keyword and then pages that relate to the main keyword.

Nice page though and clever choice in domain names. smile

Re: On Page SEO : HTML Meta Tags

Yes great post Wangking.

Just a heads up. You need to change your header on your APS page. You will see why wink

James.

Rio. Your site looks great. I did a lot of work on my first APS site but Gary and Rick are right. Google will not rank it, in fact mine is shown as blacklisted yikes lol

Simply build a blog and focus on this.

James.
