Hey Tissa,
When do you think you will have payout dates and lead qualification requirements for the CPA network of the search engine?

September's leads are almost verified, so look for the payment schedule for the CPA offer to be announced soon.
(By the way Chad and Kirsten, both of you are sending good leads from quality traffic - don't change a thing!)

I need help. I don't know what to do at this point. I ran PPC campaigns geo-targetted exclusively for the US. I also wrote several articles.
But as it turns out my traffic quality is poor, therefore not payable and some of the US leads, register but do not unlock. so I had to pause my ads to do some major tweaking, but honestly I don't know what steps I should undertake at this point.
My landing pages are specific enough to be tracked and with minimal distractions. I'm guessing the articles are generating clicks from elsewhere.
So if anyone from outside the USA finds my search engine and unlocks results, it consequently pulls down my traffic quality, do I understand correctly?
Can you please help me with any ideas or suggestions?
I would really appreciate it.

do you have any good news about the mobil version of the search engine too? I cant wait to test that.

LOL well to late. I am changing, testing and adjusting my campaigns all the time. I cant decide if I should just run it in Yahoo or Bing or both. So far there isnt much of a difference, except it seem I get more Clickbank sales when I run it in Bing, but if I only run it in Yahoo I get more that enter the code. Luxary problem?

Hi Eden,
Your article marketing could be the problem. Not that there is anything wrong with article maketing, its atually a great way to get your sites ranked, but when it comes to the search engine, that you have to advertise to the US ONLY, you run in to problems, because you cant control the traffic as your articles can be viewed by people all over the world.
It could also be your landing page or did you have two? feel free to pm it to me if you want and I will have a look at it with the eyes of a costumer.

Hi Eden,
As Kirsten mentioned, it's essential that you limit your people search engine traffic to valid, U.S. traffic ONLY. Also folks, let me explain the difference between "Conversion Rate" and "Traffic Quality":
Conversion Rate and Traffic Quality are very different metrics. A high Conversion Rate does not automatically mean good Traffic Quality, just like a low Conversion Rate does not automatically mean poor Traffic Quality. It's possible to have a 100% Conversion Rate with "Poor" Traffic Quality, or zero conversions with "Good" Traffic Quality. Let me explain:
Let's say you have a conversion rate of 100% (unlikely, but just for the sake of illustration):
If your 100% conversion rate is because you asked your friends and family members to unlock results at your search engine so you can generate commissions, then your Traffic Quality will be "Poor", and you won't be paid any CPA commissions. Just an example, but you get the idea.
On the other hand, if your 100% conversion rate is because you have been promoting your search engine to U.S residents ONLY who have a genuine desire to locate someone, then your Traffic Quality will be "Good", and you will be paid those hefty CPA commissions. (Between the two of them, Chad and Kirsten alone have already surpassed $1,000 in CPA commissions!)
If you're somewhere in-between, your Traffic Quality will show as "Needs Improvement", and you will be paid CPA commissions once your Traffic Quality changes to "Good" (which is quite possible if you refine your targeting to valid, U.S. traffic ONLY). "Needs Improvement" is your warning to improve your targeting, before your Traffic Quality drops to "Poor".
So how can you ensure that your Traffic Quality is (and remains) "Good"?
By making sure that your search engine is used by U.S. residents ONLY, who have a genuine desire to locate someone in the U.S. If you see any records in the "Country" column that don't have a U.S. flag, that means your search engine is being used by non-U.S. residents (or by non-valid, U.S. traffic) - which will reduce your Traffic Quality.
Also: NEVER "test" (or have anyone else test) your search engine, never offer any incentives for unlocking results, and never attempt to generate bogus commissions. In these cases, your APS account will be disabled without notice, and you will forfeit all commissions earned - whether your Traffic Quality is "Good" or not.
Ultimately, it's important for everyone to remember that this is a CPA network offer based on email submits. Which means it's an extremely lucrative offer for well-meaning affiliates - but also extremely appealing to the bad guys. So there must be strict checks and balances in place to prevent fraud, so the opportunity can be preserved for the majority of folks. As many APS affiliates know, MyLife/Reunion.com was one of the most lucrative CPA offers out there (also based on email submits), but affiliate fraud was one of the reasons why they discontinued their affiliate program. I want to make sure this high-converting CPA offer remains available to as many well-meaning APS affiliates as possible!
Hey Tissa,

Hi Tissa,
Thanks for creating such income stream for us. Hope that all APS members are well-meaning members and will treasure and protect our loving APS program.
Thanks
Hi Tissa,
I just have a few questions:
1. You said that the quality will be poor if non-US residents uses our search engine as indicated in the flag on the country column. I just started my PPC campaign for my search engine and it had 4 users entering their email and name all US residents with 1 completing the search results. How come my traffic quality is 'Poor' eventhough all those searches were performed by US residents? Are there other factors that we need to watch out for like number of searchers using the code against those not completing the search results?
2. Does the CPA follows up on these leads to complete the search results like follow-up emails to use the code already sent?
I think this CPA offer is really great and I'm willing to spend efforts like Kirsten and Chad to get into the earning circle.
Thanks Tissa!
Joseph
Thanks Tissa,
I really appreciate your taking the time and effort to explain those in detail. I understand where you are coming from, it makes perfect sense. I wish to reiterate my commmitment to do this properly and within boundaries. An attractive offer like this really opens itself up to fraud. I'm sure you can imagine my frustration when I find out the countries from where I unintentionally generated the searches
. Sigh ![]()
Nevertheless, I am happy to learn that I am not "doomed or stuck" with my traffic quality and can actually work to move it up from "poor" to "needs improvement" and eventually to "good" quality in due time. Do I understand correctly? How quickly I will be able to do that and recover in terms of quality traffic status is something I'm working on.
Thanks for the tips Kirsten! ![]()
I see my problem is a lot of people find my search engine from so many other countries due to the following issues:
1. Yahoo PPC traffic issue
when I asked Yahoo how that happened in spite of the geo-targetting specific only to the US, this was their response:
We received your email about the ads being displayed outside the geo-targeted area and certainly understand your concern.
We want to let you know that, currently your ads are being displayed only for the users located in USA. However, sometimes it is possible that we cannot determine the location of a small portion of users (e.g.: users who connect to the Internet using a satellite connection, an anonymizer service or an international corporate network.) This could result in a user able to view your ads in the US market.
2. Article Marketing
My articles pointing to the search engine are generating the unwanted traffic from other parts of the world and they are responding to the call to action
.
I guess I will have to alter the destination page significantly to taper that off as soon as possible.
Just another quick question: What is a non-valid US traffic? So it really is the location of the "searchers" that really matter.
I am working hard to make this work given my constraints. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. Thanks again.

could you use a redirect script on the non ppc links? For example if some one from south america clicks on your link from am article, they are taken to another landing page? But if someone from the us clicks it, they are taken to your search engine?
It's a little disappointing that of 17 unique searches, two were from other countries
so my Traffic Quality is poor. However, this a new CPA network, and we must learn
to operate within it's parameters.
While it may be very difficult to prevent people from other countries on the world wide web
from finding our search engines, even if all our advertising is targeted to the US, we can
take measures as I just have, to modify our search engines and make it clear to users that
the free people search is ONLY for US citizens to find others in the US, and that the emailed
password is ONLY for valid US email accounts (even if it isn't, shhhh...
).
This may still not be 100% effective, but if our potential search engine users can read and
understand English, it should help a lot.

Hi Arun,
Not sure if the poor quality is just down to people from other countries searching. I think there are other other factors too.
I have all US searches and my traffic quality is "poor - not payable" ![]()
But what I do have is somebody using the same IP but with different email addresses to unlock (probably used a false or incorrect email), maybe it is this that has brought my quality down. All my traffic was generated through 7search, which I have now stopped.
Will be starting on Bing and Yahoo shortly and this will hopefully bring my quality back up.

Personally, i would one day like to see an icon style email system service status live within the back office (much like what clickbank uses for system status, and shows in the affiliate reports for delayed hop data.
This way we evidentially and clearly will know our aps affiliate, aps cpa network leads and all other messages are not lagged, staggered or delayed or even down, not getting through, jammed in the system, has a relay error, etc.
I'm sure with Tissa and those APS programming Gremlins at the helm we will be able keep up with the times and normal functions of other networks, if not exceed them quite easily in implementation and functionality!
What are your thoughts on: A system status page or system status icon field APS affiliates? Is it a suitable idea?
Good for CPA and the referral system, post a response and hopefully if there is demand Tissa can witness....
P.S I think traffic quality is dependant also on the conversion rate and not just the fact they should all be usa visitors who are unlocking results.
When implemented, the APS CPA network was explained as "commission only for usa traffic" and overseas visitors can also unlock free results without us earning the CPA variable, but nothing was said to declare oveseas visitors would decrease the visitor quality ratio - nor prevent us from or determine payout elegiblilty??? Personally making the rules as you go isn't fair!
Thanks, Alf Penny

Let me clarify something folks:
U.S. traffic (represented by the flag image) does not automatically mean valid traffic. It's very easy for the bad guys to "simulate" U.S. traffic, so there are many other checks and balances in place (which I won't describe here for obvious reasons).
Does the CPA follows up on these leads to complete the search results like follow-up emails to use the code already sent?
The CPA network follows up with your leads - but not to promote your links. Remember folks, this is a CPA network! Advertisers are paying for your leads so they can promote their own products. That's how all CPA networks work.
I think this CPA offer is really great
Thanks Joseph (it is!
)
Nevertheless, I am happy to learn that I am not "doomed or stuck" with my traffic quality and can actually work to move it up from "poor" to "needs improvement" and eventually to "good" quality in due time. Do I understand correctly?
That's absolutely correct. Once your Traffic Quality improves, you will be paid for all commissions earned.
I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. Thanks again.

Exactly Arun - thanks for your understanding. And again, don't make the mistake folks of looking simply at the non-U.S. searches. As I mentioned above, U.S.-based searches does not automatically mean valid traffic.

Grrrreat
so since we are getting close to the 15th will that be the payout date for the previus months verefied leads?
But what I do have is somebody using the same IP but with different email addresses to unlock (probably used a false or incorrect email), maybe it is this that has brought my quality down. All my traffic was generated through 7search, which I have now stopped.
I have seen a couple of those too. I doesnt necessarily have to be false emails. I think that sometimes people gets a little impatient if they dont get the code right away so they search again and use a different email.
Thanks for the tips Kirsten! smile
You are most welcome Eden. Your landing page looks awesome. Congrats. on the Clickbank sale ![]()
I see my problem is a lot of people find my search engine from so many other countries due to the following issues:
1. Yahoo PPC traffic issue
when I asked Yahoo how that happened in spite of the geo-targetting specific only to the US, this was their response:
Yahoo customer service wrote:We received your email about the ads being displayed outside the geo-targeted area and certainly understand your concern.
Hmmm I have never heard of this before. It more sounds like a lame excuse for not having send you the traffic you paid for.
I have been using Yahoo for years and if I have targeted a specific country, well then I only get traffic from that country. Wonder if there was a glitch now that they are transitioning to Ad Center.
Kirsten
Yes Kirsten, I also thought it was a lame excuse, but then it must be because of the transition to Bing.
Here are some updates from my end. I am happy to report that as of today:
-my traffic quality has moved from "poor" to "needs improvement". I hope I get to "good" soon.
- I have many searchers registering their names and emails but not unlocking, same as most of you here.
-My conversion rates have fallen, but I don't mind since the traffic quality has improved anyway.
- I've had 1 clickbank sale and 1 CJ sale.
Some of things I did were:
1. Removed the search engine from my blog. Why? To remedy the traffic generated by the articles I wrote. It was generating searches from the UK, Kenya, Austria, Slovakia, Pakistan, India, Iran and various Philippine provinces and as far as the CPA offer is concerned they were pulling my traffic quality down.
2. I created a separate search engine landing page from geo-targetted PPC's. My purpose is to restrict its use to the targetted US audience only.
Promote your search engine properly guys! It really rocks!

Those sound like excellent changes, Eden!
Remember folks: As affiliates, its your role (and responsibility) to properly target your advertising, and to make adjustments as necessary to stay within any CPA network's restrictions.
Do that, and the commissions will follow (as folks will see when the APS CPA offer payments are sent this week!)
