Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

Hi kevin, smile

Yeah i saw your posts and everyone posts here in that blog. That blog updates itself with whatever topic this forum has posted. It updates itself with the forum's RSS. I think there is a term for this and its called SPLOGS or Spam blogs which are Blogs that updates itself with contents gathered from another source usually by RSS feeds and posts directly to their blogs without any editing or  referencing to the original content.

But anyways each post in that blog shows the actual topic source by linking directly to this forum. Its kinda like a news feed. I'm sure some will argue that although it links directly to the actual original post, it has no rights to publish our contents here in the forum in their blogs .Because he is benefiting from Search engine results, this is not fair to many of us here as some have argued in a previous thread.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

Yes Kevin, I have seen it too. All of our forum posts are copied into these site.

And they rank better than my adjusted posts in my own site.

We can report it to Google and get this site out of Google index.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

Hello team mates,

The guy has practically taken each of this forum's posts and posted them there on his site as if he wrote them himself.

Is there something we can do here in the APS forum to at least sanction him and prevent him from continuing to do so?

He still is an active ACME business member. Any specific ideas?

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

This seems to be a growing trend, it's called auto blogging and I was also upset last week to find the same thing going on with our forum posts in another blog. I just wonder how legal this fad is? This may be a public forum but each post that's made here is the protected property of the poster. Auto blogging may be the newest rage but as far as I'm concerned it's not right to be taking the content of others and even making it appear to be your own writings.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

I have a page on my blog with the ACME forum RSS feed on it, it is an RSS feed that is public information but singling out one persons feed I am not liking that.

But it gives me a great idea! I am going to RSS my own feed on another page of another blog! This will give visitors an idea of who I am and what I represent in this business. I suggest that we all do the same with our blogs..

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

Hi Amy,
Yes, you can certainly do that. I started doing that quite a few months ago - and it appears like a table of contents on one of my blogs. Kind of neat.

About this particular blog in question, I discovered this quite a while back, because I found my posts on it and I PMed Tissa about it, but at the time he was probably busy and somehow missed it. I think it's probably fine to have an autofeed, but certainly it shouldn't be without qualifying where it is coming from, and giving credit. If he makes it look like he is the author, that is certainly deceptive, and I think it needs to be addressed.

Somesh.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

What people will do to earn money online.  It a shame this individual can't come up with his own topics to present to his possible prospects.  But, I would assume when people join his team they will find out he may not know how to help them succeed since he is a copycat.

Oh, BTW, this topic is now in his thread since he links to you Kevin.  So, hopefully, people will click on original post and see he doesn't have original content and realize he may not be able to provide further assistance.  This may have people seek you out directly.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

You know Donna that is not a bad idea, Kevin just keep posting in this thread that this is "copied" material and not the content of the site owner.

You may even want to create a new thread wink

Do this for several days, with Tissa's approval and see what happens smile

Amy

For Example:

Attention: This is copyrighted material, the information you see on this site is not written by "name", "name" has illegally copied it from "Kevin's referral link to the forum". If you would like more information on ACME People Search and GDI you can contact me "here".

Get this posted about 10 times and that should give you some serious referrals!!!

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

Exactly Amy.

Also, Kevin for the next few days, start all your posts off with your name.  Something, like, Hey Kevin Brighton here to talk  to you about......and then your post.  The reason I said this is because his feed picks up the first paragraph and then your name will be all over his website.  Too bad you couldn't put a link in the thread feeding to your website.  Wouldn't that throw this copycat's site for a tilt.  LOL.

Donna

All he has to do is create a forum referral link to attach to his name on every post he makes, so the "kevin" will be attached to a forum post with his referral link in it.

I honestly would ask Tissa if this can be done for a bit though, just to prevent any problems but that is a great idea as well Donna!

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

I have a blog that is showing the forum's RSS feed as well.

All links are coming straight to the posts here.
I also have it limited to the first 100 words, so to read the whole post, you must come here.

It is not much different than Google as long they link back here.
(Google shows your sites content on their site, but links back to the original)

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

In my opinion, this will backfire on him because from what I can see, he has no content besides the forum posts from various forum members. So I put my self in the shoes of a visitor, visiting that site and concluded that this webmaster has nothing to offer me, But this guy kevin really knows what he is talking about. Wow this guy Brandon has some pretty good marketing strategies.

So this may be a good thing after all, but you must remember not to put any content from your posts in your blog so that when this guy copies it, you don't get penalized by google for duplicate content.

Re: Someone using my Forum Topics..

On his first page he uses outdated info about display rates, saying he is syill on 65% display rate.

Isnt that kinda against copyrights i mean all the acme forum posts and topics belong to Acme forum and not somewhere else. I think its like feed all ezine articles to a blog copying all contents and not asking for permission. Also he claims that got 125$ within 24hrs after he signed up with Acme which is sorta missleading.

Its never too late to start learning, what with then resonate in to earnings.
