Topic: 492 Sign-Ups and Counting. . .

That's how many APS opt-ins I have in the last 3 days.  No joke!  I also pulled off some impressive people search engine stats last month in a very short span.

Folks, all I can say is the APS system converts on both ends.  We're operating in two high-demand verticals here.  The tools Tissa gives us are extremely effective and they offer tremendous value.  If you are serious about becoming an Internet marketer you need a marketing platform and tools.  This is a proven platform and the tools flat-out work.  You'll be hard pressed to find a better value for $1 a day.  Seriously, it's crazy how much value Tissa has added to the monthly subscription.  Why more people can't see the value and opportunity presented here is beyond me.

Quite frankly, if you can't make money here, give up because you probably aren't going to make money online elsewhere.  That's not to say there aren't other great marketing systems out there, but they all require that you learn how to Market, Advertise and Promote (M.A.P).  I know this sounds redundant, but it's what we do as Internet marketers.  You are not here to just "make money".  You're here to learn how to become an Internet marketer, or at least you better be otherwise you're here for the wrong reasons.

Not to go off on a tangent here, but one common theme I picked up on at Affiliate Summit West was that the affiliate networks and merchants are going to become very selective on who they allow to join.  I can give you a perfect example.  One of my favorite affiliate programs outside of APS is Ebay's Partner Network.  In the past Ebay used to accept everyone.  Now good luck getting approved.  We're only going to see this trend continue.  The affiliate networks and merchants know that everyone wants to just "make money" online, but most people don't do LOVE! to make it happen.

Alright, now to answer the important question:  How did I get 492 opt-ins in three days?

I did it by joining Wealthy Affiliate eighteen months ago and learning how to Market, Advertise and Promote.  I worked my way through everything WA had to offer.  If you can't afford Wealthy Affiliate then you join Affilorama and work your way through the 85 free tutorials there.  One or another, you have to learn these skills.

Then you work your ass off!

Yeah, paid ads using variations of the landing page I gave away here.  This requires a lot of split-testing and it never stops.

And no, I won't give away my final version and where I'm advertising it.  smile  People need to learn how to do this on their own.

I don't expect you to give away your trade secrets. I just want to say that is very impressive. You must be killing it with HG too then?

Chris....you got some serious skills. Keep it up.

I wasn't implying that you would be begging for trade secrets, Chad.  It's the other members I worry about.  lol  I know I'll get some e-mails.

My HostGator sign-ups are actually lower than I was hoping for.  I need to do a lot more testing.

wow!! Congratulations Chris,

I would add, if we can make money here, we will be able to make money on other programs as well. The technics we apply here (MAP technics) do work the same on any other Internet Marketing business.

Wow, Chris, you're definitely on fire!  I guess it goes to show that quality is of highest importance.  Once you have found something that others wanted, then your business could really start to take off and the results could grow exponentially in just a few days time.

The great thing about internet marketing is that you could be spending months developing a blog or system and putting all the right things into it and get to reap all its benefits once it goes live even though you weren't making anything until reaching that point.  This is probably the same way that some internet gurus were able to grow huge organizations within a short period of time in people's eyes.  What most people don't see is the amount of work and effort that was spent in the planning stages to reach that climax point.

Chris,

Can you let us know how well your referrals convert in the following week or so?  Hopefully, not everyone stays in step 1 an drives down your conversion rates.

Re: 492 Sign-Ups and Counting. . .

Thanks everyone!  All I'm doing is running variations of the landing pages I gave out and taking advantage of having a direct sign-up form embedded.  My split-testing has shown that this really boosts conversions so I highly recommend everyone take advantage of the new sign-up form available in the back office or build your own sign-up forms (HTML knowledge required).

However, put a screening mechanism in place.  As we all know here, APS offers tremendous benefits, especially after all the recent changes.  But it still requires work, and some people are on an endless search for a get-rich-scheme.  If you are using your autoresponder to build a list you don't have to worry about these people opting in, but if you are sending them directly to APS try to filter them out.  Just by adding something as simple as "Be prepared to invest at least $10" will really help weed out people who have no intention of doing anything.

That is phenomenal Chris, you set the standard for excellence and show us all that it is possible, as you say by learning to M.A.P. and working your ass off. Great job and thanks for this inspirational story.

You said it Chris - work your ass off is right it is the only way. And learning to earn. I too have been going step by step through WA. It has been a slow process but each day I learn more and do better. I agree without the skills you can't do it.

Good for you you deserve it. Keep it up and thanks for always paying it forward, I've learned a lot from you.

Pretty impressive...but I don't get one thing, how can you split-test your landing page, I mean don't you have to own 2 or more variations of the respective page and have them set up to work on your Adgroups all in the same time.

Or do you split-test on a schedule basis,"this page now, it's variation next week"...ca's that would work, but can't say you get too accurate results, hope I'm making sense.

So care to share? Ca's I never fully understood this branch of split-testing, thank you.

Hi W.Matthew,

I own all of my landing pages.  I create them either using Dreamweaver or Kompozer (free).  What I do is create different variations (e.g. landingpage1.html, landingpage2.html, landingpage3.html, etc.) and then I create different tracking IDs for each one using the tools in our APS back office.  When I setup my ads I use these URLs (e.g.  My-Domain.com/landingpage1.html, My-Domain.com/landingpage2.html, My-Domain.com/landingpage3.html, etc.)  This way I can track how well they perform.

It's amazing how minor tweaks can have a huge impact.  Experiment with different layouts, headers, images, videos and even things as minor as fonts, font sizes, and link colors can affect conversions.  This is very tedious, but it must be done to maximize conversions.  It really is a crucial skill that everyone should develop whether they are promoting APS or any offer for that matter.

I highly encourage everyone to learn how create landing pages and how to upload them to their web host using a FTP program.  I was going through Mark Ling's Affiliorama yesterday and he was some excellent video tutorials on how to do this.  Everyone should check out Mark's lessons - he offers a wealth of information for free.

Also, learning the basics of HTML/CSS will be a huge help.  Free programs like Kompozer can do most of the work, but it really helps to know the basics in case you need to dig in and fix a few things manually.  HTML is as basic as this:

<b>Hello World!</b>

This code will produce:  Hello Word! in bold

<a href="http://www.acme-people-search.com">Click this link to visit Acme People Search</a>

This code will produce:  Click this link to visit Acme People Search

You can use something as simple as Notepad to create landing pages using HTML.  All you have to do is save the file with a .html extension and then upload it to your web host.

There's a lot more to be said about this and it would take a book to cover it, but it's something that everyone can learn by investing a little time.

Exactly Chris!  This was what I tried to get people think about back in this post.

The Importance of Tracking and Split Testing All Advertising

We all need to master some basic html skills.  Here is the link to kompozer.

Now you brought in the evidence and prove that this is the real deal smile

Re: 492 Sign-Ups and Counting. . .

Ya exactly my point...I kind of taught that that would be the answer, but than taought about duplicated content, and I mean, wouldn't it fall in the respective category? Ca's the pages would only be of  minor differences...or, ya big_smile ...the split-testing would be for a short duration of time so google or the other search engines wouldn't be able to spot it that quickly...yes so it wouldn't matter, you just do it, see which one would prove more reliable and implement it...than after a short while do it again and again always improving.

But still, lol if you just keep on split-testing over and over again, then, eventually,  they will still spot that we are duplicating content...or am I wrong?

Thanks guys,

W.Matthew

Chris that's awesome, Congrats!  smile

BTW you can also use Google Website Optimizer to run split test as well. It's a pretty neat tool that I've been playing around with.
